Healers do not promise cures, and natural therapy is not a substitute for medical care. However, it can be a valuable complement to other forms of treatment. Many people choose healing therapies for their relaxing benefits, finding them enjoyable and restorative.
I offer reflexology, a treatment for the feet and hands. It is a simple, natural, complementary therapy that fits easily into daily life. As a non-invasive practice, clients remain fully clothed while receiving treatment.
Reflexology is a complementary therapy based on the belief that there are reflex areas in the feet and hands which are believed to correspond to all organs and parts of the body.
Reflexology works on an individual basis and may alleviate and improve symptoms such as everyday stress and tension.
What to Expect During a Treatment
During your reflexology session I shall take a detailed medical history. Sessions are usually performed in a comfortable chair. If you have booked a foot reflexology session, you will be asked to remove footwear and socks, though other forms of reflexology require no removal of clothing. I will then make a visual and tactile examination of the area to be worked before beginning the precise reflexology massage movements. The particular types of movements involved require the application of an appropriate pressure using the thumb and fingers.
Reflexology can be a wonderfully relaxing experience where you can take time out from everyday pressures. My aim is to help you relax which can help improve mood, aid sleep and relieve tension. The result is an overall sense of wellbeing.
The Origins and Benefits of Reflexology
Reflexology has its roots in ancient civilisations such as Egypt and China, where it has been practised for thousands of years. Over time, techniques from these cultures have evolved into the therapy we know today.
The principle of reflexology is that the body is mirrored in the feet and hands, allowing the therapist to encourage healing by stimulating specific reflex points. This process may help to unblock and re-align the body's natural balance, relieving tension and congestion carried in the body each day.
A reflexology treatment includes pressure, manipulation and massage of the reflex points on the feet or hands. While reflexology is most commonly applied to the feet, it can also be performed on the hands, allowing individuals to maintain their own health through self-care techniques.
During your first visit, I will discuss your health and lifestyle to understand your individual needs. The treatment begins with gentle relaxation exercises, followed by focused reflexology techniques applied to the feet or hands
